Nerd News: Two Bird Posts

So there are two Bird-related things to report today.

One is a real-life DnD Monster, the Lammergeier, a bird that apparently eats bones. Not bone marrow… bones. It drops them on rocks and eats them. This terrible bird also looks like this. And this. They dissolve bones in their stomachs. And throw up on their enemies, like cheerleaders. They have nine foot wingspans. Also, it apparently dropped a turtle on some guy. It isn’t a new animal or anything… I just thought the world should know that nature isn’t out of terrible things to terrify you yet.

In happier news Angry Birds Star Wars is out, and is brilliant. You should all go play it on your Android phones for free. Unless you have an iPhone (bad decision) which will run you a dollar. Or an iPad, which will be 3 dollars. In any case, enjoy flinging Jedi birds at Pigtroopers!

“So let me tell you about my sister…”

A good friend of mine referred me to this. I highly recommend listening to the whole thing, because it made my day.

I put this together when I realized the Mario Ghosts are basically the Weeping Angels.  Not bad for Paint.net. Thoughts?

Nerd News: Sean Bean Stabbed in a Barfight

Who is Sean Bean?
In Goldeneye, he played Alec Trevelyan. In the new Lord of the Rings movies, he played Boromir. In Game of Thrones (most importantly) he plays Eddard Stark. So basically he’s been an icon of badassery for over 20 years.

Sean Bean, better known as Ned Stark (because actors are really just the alter egos of their best characters) was stabbed in a barfight yesterday. Apparently he was doing his thing, chilling in a bar with a topless playboy model by the name of April Summers (also known as Nadia Foster) when some guy made a few lewd comments about her.

Coming to her aid, Bean had a few choice words with him (My guess is they were “Shut your mouth or I’ll sick my kid’s dire wolf on your ass”) and the offensive patron left. Sean went back to his evening, enjoying his drink with the 22 year old model. She’s pretty damn hot, kudos Ned. Sean Bean is 52; keep that in mind here.

Some time later the creep came back, and a fight broke out between the two just outside the bar. Bean presumably won; he was punched in the eye and stabbed with a broken bottle, but returned to the bar, taking a first aid kit from hospital staff but declining further medical attention.

That’s right. He was stabbed in a bar fight, and went back in for another drink. Apparently he isn’t an actor, he just really is an action hero. No worries though guys, he should be fully recovered in less than a week, and is scheduled to play in a gritty reboot of Peter Pan.

This is why I don't blog about computer games... (and this is also a link)

If you play computer games, Xbox games, or Playstation games, read this. Or if you plan to. Or if you know somebody who does. You get the idea.

This might be the best Cracked article I’ve read, and illustrates exactly why I’ve been focusing my blog on tabletop games. I’m not really optimistic about the future of *puts on hipster glasses* mainstream gaming. I don’t like the picture that Cracked paints, but I can’t find any flaws in their logic.
